  • Back for good….

    By Fogs | February 17, 2009

Apologies for the downtime taking a little bit longer than anticipated but hopefully everything is sorted and the site should now be able to move forward…
The last couple of weeks have seen quite a few decent styles turn up so heres a quick run down of a small selection that are up for grabs right now in the solepower ebay store; Adidas Marathon TR Low, Fila Vintage Tennis Leather, Adidas Kopenhagen, Adidas Melbourne, Adidas Matchplay (Tournament Edition), Adidas Zodiak and several styles of old favourites like the Superstar and Stan Smith. As always though everything is in very limited numbers and in most cases only 1 or 2 pairs. Click the ebay link for the full selection

    SolePower site down for maintenance

    By admin | January 29, 2009

You may have noticed this week that the SolePower site has been down for a couple of days.  This was due to some maintenance work that was taking place on our server.  Within the next week or so the site may also go down for another couple of days whilst the work on the server is completed.  Unfortunately there is no way round this as this work is essential if SolePower is to move forward.  Be assured though that you can expect some interesting developments at SolePower over the next few months…

    Bring back the Tec!

    By SneakerFreak | January 24, 2009

WITH the underground now truly overground, it seems there’s nothing alternative out there anymore.

House music, back in the 80s was vilified by the Daily Mail hordes, but now accompanies car ads. Even the original punk prince, Johnny Rotten, has sold out and is selling butter!

So with those pearls of wisdom, Sneakerfreak reckons it’s time to champion what is still truly alternative, such as brass band music, the Wurzels and Hi Tec trainers.

OK Adidas and Nike do have some great vintage styles out, but let’s face it, no one wears Hi Tec, even your dad’s ditched them in favour of Reebok classics – a true sign of being alternative!

Hi Tec was founded in 1974 in the appropriately named village of Shoeburyness, in Essex, England, with the companies success growing from the breakthrough design and development of Hi-Tec’s first ever shoe, The Squash, specifically designed for the then fast growing game of squash.

A truly fantastic shoe, The Squash, back in its heyday sold millions across the globe. Ok no one famous ever wore them, but that’s their true appeal, ditch the stripes in favour of a real alternative. Bring back the Tec!

Clarks “Prince of Wales checks” pack

    By Fogs | January 18, 2009

Ok, so it may not be a sneaker brand but it is a brand with a lot of heritage and as FRJ will testify gets a lot of interest from deadstock collectors hunting those hard to find styles. So its worth mentioning the new “prince of wales checks” pack from the spring/summer 09 collection which features the wallabee, desert boot and the lugger with all three styles featuring the classic Clarks crepe sole. True Brit meets True Brit.

    New Year New Releases

    By Fogs | January 10, 2009

As you would expect January will see a mass of new releases (or re-releases) hitting the stores as the sale racks get replaced with fresh new product. One of the most anticipated releases is probably the adidas Kegler Super Leather, a style that did make an appearance in the consortium series last year but this version will go down a storm with the vintage heads.
As always though solepower will continue to hunt down the deadstock styles and you can expect 2007 colourways of the adidas zx 600, 700 and 800 to be appearing in the ebay store before the end of the month.

Little Boots – Ready for the floor

    By Freeride Junkie | January 9, 2009

Looks like Little Boots is set to be massive in 2009 if all the media talk is to be believed.  Hailing from Blackpool, and now residing in London, Little Boots little feet (size 2.5 apparently) are finding their way onto many a stage across the UK and the rest of the world over the coming months.  She also has a single out on itunes called Stuck on Repeat which is FREE to download.  A bit of retro pop is just what we need here at SolePower to get us through those January blues…with that in mind here’s a cover of Hot Chip’s Ready for the floor that she recorded on her tenorion last year…enjoy.FRJ

    Vespa – Adidas trefoil design

    Adidas Vespa Scooter

I was just clearing out a few pics from my phone today and came accross this one which I thought was quite fitting for Sole Power.  I came accross this scooter at the Southport scooter rally this summer and took a quick snap of it.  The scooter is a Vespa PX in blue with a great painting of the adidas trefoil on the side panel.  Just wish I’d taken a higher res photo.  I’ll keep an eye out for the scoot again and take a better pic next time.  Happy xmas dudes! VINTAGE COLLECTOR – KERSO (UK CASUALS)

    By Freeride Junkie | December 22, 2008

Kerso is well known in vintage trainer circles as a knowledgeable participant in the UK’s most enduring style movement, simply known as the Casuals. With a love of football only matched by a penchant for obscure trainers and Euro sports fashion, the Casual persona defined a peculiar English sense of fashion and tradition which is still influential today. Regarding himself as a ‘trainer wearer’ rather than a collector, Kerso may be in his own words an ‘anally retentive sad bastard’, but at least he still cares! Let’s rewind the clock as Kerso gives us a tour through this most enigmatic phenomenon that is a total mystery to the sneaker scene today.
