I’ve had a change of heart and embraced the day-glow nu-rave revolution!

By SneakerFreak | October 17, 2008

Nu Rave Dog

CHUCK Taylors may of been the trainers of choice for The Ramones and Blondie, but these days the boundaries have been thrown wide open as indie mixes with nu rave and brings a day-glow hue to what was once a strictly two tone world and even Sneakerfreak’s joined in and ditched the neutral colours of yore, see previous blogs, dear surfers!

If, like Sneakerfreak a few years back, you were a strict Converse kind of guy, check out what’s on offer in quality high street emporiums up and down the country and websites such as this where you’ll find a variety of treats for your feets, which yes, even you Horrors fans, won’t look out of place in with your spray on ripped denims.

This month you’re favourite blogger will mostly be wearing Adidas, particularly the ZX600s, which are up for grabs just a click away on this very page.

Now if you actually know Sneakerfreak, not only are you a very lucky person, but you’ll also realise he’s not been to a running track recently. However, the running ZX range, originally released in the 80s, will give anyone a spring in their step and you’ll be able to get to Gregg’s just that bit quicker.

As well as Adidas, Puma have some tasty offerings up for grabs this month with the Puma Cabana Racer particularly tickling Sneakerfreak’s taste buds. The 80’s reissues, hot from Mr Dassler’s archives, come in either a nice red, yellow colourway, green, yellow colourway or my favourites a cobolt blue and yellow mix, fresh.

Elsewhere, and for something a little different check out the new range by Walsh.

Now for those in the know, the company set up by Norman Walsh have been knocking out trainers of the highest calibre from their Bolton factory since 1961 and the latest numbers to join the running specialist ranks include the retro suede Bazley, a bit similar to the Gola Harrier in shape and the Lostock, with a slightly chunkier sole.

If you’re still not convinced and it’s got to be Converse, their Jack Purcells offer something a little different, while keeping the same aesthetic clean lines of the Chuck Taylor. But don’t forget Converse may be classics, but there’s so much more to keep your feet looking fresh and it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to a gym.
